Rising 54 stories above the iconic downtown Los Angeles skyline, Olympic & Hill sets a new standard for luxury multifamily living. Developed by the renowned Onni Group, the tower features 685 high-end residential units, including expansive four- to five-bedroom penthouses with multilevel terraces and private amenities.
The property feels more like a resort or private club than apartments. Residents enjoy over an acre of amenities, including a massive 74-foot pool, cold plunges, infrared and dry saunas, sand volleyball and basketball courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, co-working spaces, multiple lounges, a chef’s kitchen, and meticulously maintained outdoor spaces.

Given the caliber of the community, robust Wi-Fi connectivity was non-negotiable to meet discerning residents’ expectations. To deliver with confidence, Onni selected Nomadix Wi-Fi management and authentication solutions to streamline network deployment and management for its flagship high-rise, along with Grey Owl Technology Solutions as the primary network integrator and managed services provider responsible for both deployment and ongoing performance.
The Challenge: 685 private networks in 60 days
Building a reliable, cohesive Wi-Fi ecosystem in a 54-story tower is no small feat, but Onni had even higher expectations.
Every one of the 685 units needed to function as an independent home network on a single, shared infrastructure. This ensures residents have persistent Personal Area Network (PAN) access across the property, no matter where they go—the gym, pool deck, rooftop lounge—with no cross-unit visibility.
“Someone else’s smart TV shouldn’t show up as an option when you’re in your own suite,” said Tobias Vlasblom of Grid Networks, who collaborated with Grey Owl Technology Solutions to design and implement the network.
Rapid startup and easy self-service onboarding were also essential. With the anticipated influx of new residents, Onni needed a Wi-Fi portal that would make it fast and simple for residents to get connected and upgrade service quickly.
Operational simplicity for onsite staff was also a priority, but the biggest challenge of all was that the entire network had to be deployed in just 60 days.
“A couple of months before the go-live date, it became clear that the original network plan wasn’t going to work out,” an Onni representative said. “Nomadix was the only solution capable of meeting the technical requirements, deployment speed, and level of support to get it done.”

The Solution: Nomadix Internet Gateway + MDU Portal
To meet the scale, complexity, and timeline of the project, Onni selected the Nomadix EG 6000 Gateway alongside the Nomadix MDU Portal, both purpose-built for the unique demands of this application.
The Nomadix platform provides onboarding, access control, segmentation, and per-unit bandwidth management, ensuring every resident has their own PAN. Residents don’t have to worry about neighbors consuming excess bandwidth and slowing down their service, and they can upgrade to higher bandwidth options if they choose.

With Grey Owl’s expertise, the network supports 700+ users with over 7,000 devices, keeping residents connected, secure and productive.
“All of the staff had worked in MDU operations before, but none had used the Nomadix MDU Portal,” an Onni representative said. “They figured it out immediately, before we even had a chance to train them.”
And with only eight weeks to design and stand up a property-wide secure network, the team benefited greatly from Nomadix’s responsiveness, both with equipment delivery and tech support.
“The speed of integration was phenomenal,” Vlasblom said. “We got a lot of support from Nomadix for the initial setup, and it was the only way to get it done on time.”
